Within the US Veterinary Sales Group for Elanco Animal Health, the purpose of the position is to drive sales results for the Veterinary Practices by leading a group of Inside Sales Representatives and partnering to set the strategy and direction of the US Veterinary Inside Sales Team.


The inside sales manager’s responsibilities include providing ongoing professional development opportunities for the inside sales staff, motivating the sales staff to achieve sales targets, and developing an effective step-by-step process of nurturing leads and closing sales. You should also be able to utilize market analysis tools to determine customer behavior, market trends, and competitor activity.


To be successful as an inside sales manager, the individual should have strong leadership skills and communication skills to influence multiple functions. Ultimately, an exceptional Inside Sales Manager should be able to communicate effectively with leadership, inside sales employees and customers as well as demonstrate excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Build, develop, and motivate a world-class sales team for maximum results of companion animal products in the Veterinary Clinics.
  • Lead execution of Sales Force Excellence across all assigned districts to maximize coverage and return on resources invested.
  • Recruiting, training, and supervising members of the inside sales team.
  • Educating inside sales staff on effectively answering common customer questions and CVS Selling model.
  • Collaborating with the digital and marketing departments to ensure that the inside sales staff receive quality leads to pursue.
  • Maintaining an accurate record of all leads and actual sales.
  • Preparing accurate sales forecasts to assist the company in making sound business decisions.
  • Regularly evaluating the performance of the inside sales team.
  • Evaluating current sales practices and procedures to determine whether they are effective in generating sales.
  • Recommending and implementing improvements to current sales practices and procedures as needed.
  • Addressing and resolving customer complaints.
  • Design and implement a program that inspires and develops future talent within Elanco
  • The right candidate is someone that has experience leading people as well as experience serving in an operating function (or operations environment).
  • Works cross-functionally at all levels of Pet Health Commercial Management team to align and execute inside sales strategy


Education and Experience

  • 10 years work experience in the Pet Health Industry; previous experience across sales management, sales training in the Animal Health industry, marketing and/or operations experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of management or consultant experience preferably in the companion animal industry.
  • Experience with Inside Sales structure and design preferred
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Ability to influence without authority through effective interpersonal relationships across multiple functions to the executive level.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Pet Health Market and products available.
  • Ability to create a culture of engaged empowered employees.
  • Understanding of category landscape, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent speaking and presentation skills.
  • Ability to convey messages and motivate various audiences.
  • Ability to identify and solve customer issues strategically by finding a fit with Elanco's organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to make decisions within the context of uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Strategic thinking and long-term forecasting ability.
  • Strong Planning and Execution Skills.
